Maddy Butler
Maddy has a background in communications, and was working in film and TV when her passion for climate action drove her to make a career leap into campaigning. After working for various climate organisations, such as Neighbours United for Climate Action, while parenting her own two young children, Maddy was drawn to parents as a constituency. That led her to The Parenthood, where she now works as Campaign Director, seeking policy reform on issues which relate directly to families, such as early childhood education and care, paid parental leave, and flexible workplaces.
Maddy is passionate about making Australia the best place in the world to be a parent - not just because she herself will benefit - but because it’s only when parents and carers are supported that children can thrive. She lives on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm/Melbourne with her two kids and a bunch of indoor plants (which are miraculously still alive).
