Tess Moodie
Tess Moodie (they/them) is a proud non-binary queer person with disability who is also a carer/parent of multiple family members with a disability. Tess is a victim-survivor of multiple forms of violence and is a passionate intersectional advocate, with a particular focus in the prevention of family, domestic and sexual violence in the disability and LGBTIQA+ community. Tess is currently the Youth Engagement Lead at Laurel House Tasmania. They previously worked at Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) as a Senior Policy and Project Officer, predominantly working on the Disability Royal Commission, National Women’s Alliance work and systemic advocacy in the prevention of violence against women, girls and gender-diverse people with disabilities.
Tess also works as a project coordinator for Engender Equality Tasmania, where they coordinate and support women who are victim-survivors of family and sexual violence to engage in media, public speaking and legislative change. Tess is also a member of the Victim Survivor Expert Advisory Panel at Safe + Equal.
They also participate in various advisory groups in Tasmania and nationally.
Tess is also studying a Masters in Forensic Behavioural Science with Swinburne University and in their spare time loves spending time with family and venturing into the forest of Lutruwita (Tasmania).
