Sujan Selven is a passionate advocate for refugee rights and social equity, with lived experience as a former refugee who sought asylum in Australia. His journey has shaped his commitment to building inclusive communities and empowering marginalized voices.
Sujan has worked as an interpreter in Australian detention centres, providing critical support to refugees navigating complex systems. He also mentors refugees and asylum seekers, leveraging his deep understanding of their challenges to advocate for systemic change.
A trailblazer in politics, Sujan has run as a political candidate for the Australian Greens in local, state, and federal elections since 2015. Currently serving as a Councillor at Cumberland Council, Sujan is dedicated to creating policies that reflect the needs of diverse communities, including establishing Tamil Heritage Week to celebrate cultural identity.
Beyond his political work, Sujan is the founder of Upcycled Tech (upcycledtech.com.au), a social enterprise that bridges the digital divide by refurbishing technology for those in need.
