Jess Tran
Jess is driving the Wage Subsidy For All campaign at Democracy in Colour to ensure broad-based economic support for everyone in our community, throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
Jess is the Victorian state coordinator and organiser for Democracy in Colour and also the database coordinator for Friends of the Earth Australia. Before this she spent two years as a Community Organiser volunteer at ASRC. Jess has worked on the #KidsOffNauru, #Medevac & #NoPhonesNoLifeline campaigns at ASRC, and is currently organising with community-led refugee solidarity groups, RightTrack and Northside Youth with Refugees to end mandatory detention. Jess hosts and facilitates Breakthrough Conversations workshop which teach people tools to have effective and persuasive conversations that build support for refugee justice.
Jess is also involved with Chalk Circle - an independent not-for-profit organisation that creates conversations around gender literacy to empower the next generation.
Jess is passionate about shifting power to communities and empowering individuals with tools and skills to actualise positive change and policies that ensure the dignity and humanity of everyone.
